The deomstrations in Cusco & the region slow us to 15kph for 80km ...
local govt plan to privatise archeological sites and local people sre strongly against it
we have to brave burning tyres, glass, rocks, boulders and angry mobs
we had a few very close calls ...referring to the UKs history on privatisation clinched the deals :)

we think we're clear and at 50km (safe to stop) remove glass from tyres

a very small umnanned rock barricade at 60km (note motor still running)
we meet some very friendly Argentinian bikers at the last heavy roadblock (80km)
The road from Cusco to Puno follows the "highest" train journey in the world to Puno

the altiplano ... at 4,300m it's wide open, cold & windy but beautiful

the light is something else, but the photos dont do this justice, and the route is fantastic

Puno : another foam fuelled fiesta
20 mins from Puno
on Lago Titicaca,
the floating Uros islands ...

the reeds are supposedly edible, but even a veggie like Scouse draws the line
The Uros charge an entrance fee to their patch and sell local crafts ...

and charge for rides in straw boats
the Uros have a small floating community but there's evidence of adaption with tin roofs & antennaes

it's very tranquil there
The island of Taquille

when a bloke can knit a hat that holds water, he becomes a man and is up for grabs
