ridin down the northern Chilean coast inbetween towns is nowt but sand ...
Paris Texas restaurant ... in the middle of nowhere ...
a desert
intending to stay in Calamar, didn't fuel up on way in ....
no room at the inn so had to move on ...
and no fuel stations on exit

ridin through the Atacama desert when fuel drops to near empty, ooops

we coast where we can as we run on vapour ..

must have been ridin it hard due to monotonous terrain ...

met a Dutch cyclist & chatted

we spot town not so far ahead & coast on in

valley de la Luna terrain is fascinating
Bikers are just like buses ...

it's freezin at 4,300m pre dawn but the thermal pool is tops :)

San Pedro gets it's rain in Jan & Feb & none for the rest of the year ...
irrigation is via mountain streams ... sometimes water pressure is too low for showering etc...
a couple of years ago it hadn't rained for 4 years
