Just leaving Argentina for Uruguay ...
We were heading for the famous Fray Bentos, home of the Fray Bentos meat processing plant ...
in Uruguay, not Argentina as some may believe ...
local Uruguays thought us a little crazy wanting to see this place ... but it's an icon in the UK, even for a veggie like Scouse

a spot of lunch in Fray Bentos :)

the famous processing plant is just over the way

THE factory

was in a beautiful setting
& in it's heyday employed more than 20,000 people from over 64 countries, and was similar to communities like Saltaire & Ellesmere port
in the 1980s the economic depression hit the plant hard and other countries fared better ...

so now only abandoned cranes ...
now abandoned, the wire fences make the factory look like a concentration camp for cattle (they were certainly concentrated!)
a monument to Liebig & his cattle processing
